Presentation tomorrow.
So happy to be done.
I notice when I'm stressed,
my creative juices flow more.
I crave writing, and painting,
and photography.

My goal for the next two weeks is to center myself.
I am going home,
catching up with Andrew,
seeing my entire giant Cuban family,
getting my wisdom teeth pulled out,
back to school shopping,
and collecting my thoughts and ideas.

I need clarity and definition.
I need to focus on what my goals are,
and how I'm truly going to achieve them.
I will further elaborate on this,
when I personally have them straight.

I am happy to go home.
My teeth hurt!!!!
I hate wisdom teeth.
I'm actually looking forward to this surgery!!
Crazy.

Summer needs to come to an end.
I feel disappointed and in worse shape than I began.
Sadly,
from this dispair,
I feel inspired,
I understand why artists must be tortured to truly make art.

Are you an Old Spice Man?

Just saw the funniest commercial for old spice,
which begs the question now,
are you an old spice man?

More to come once I finish my presentation,
and I get my wisdom teeth pulled,
and my perpetual head ache stops.

More Behavior Testing.

More behavior testing.
More odd results I have to come up
with an explanation for.
Here is some stuff found in my boredom.
I was inspired by Paul Krassner's Disney Parody below.
Nothing as good was found, but here are some funny ones to share.

In 1967, Paul Krassner published Mad artist Wally Wood’s parody as a centerspread for his satirical magazine, The Realist, and then as a poster.

Here are some other Disney parodies.

In other news...TODAY IS HARRY POTTER DAY!!!!!!
Will post all about tonight's silliness tomorrow!!!

Now I'm going to finish behavior
and GET OUT OF HERE!!!!

Cheer Up.

Its been a few days.
They haven't been crazy,
but they have been plenty busy.
Saturday I went to lunch with Jess at Zea's Rotisserie.
VERY good.
The prices for dinner may not be worth it,
but for lunch it was a great meal.
I had veal with sweat snap peas
and buttered sweet potato!
YUMMY...just writing about it makes me want some now!

Currently I'm waiting to do behavior and inject some ratty rats.
Yuck!

Then after lunch Jess and I saw
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
LOVED it!!!
SO much better than the other movies.
I liked it so much I went with Katy and Haylie
to try and see it at the IMAX theater in Covington.
Unfortunately the IMAX showing was sold out.
Boo.

But we saw it on the regular screen again,
which I didn't mind so much.
I really liked it!
It was dark and intense.
I'm so glad the kids are growing up.
Rupert Grint was pretty cute too!
I hadn't really noticed him before.

Before:

After:

I couldn't find a very good pic online...:-(

There are also more nuiances to the film
Now I can't wait for the 7th book!
Though I may just need to skip to 6 and read fast.
I've been really bad about just picking up the books.
Plus I've been busy too.

I'm trying to finish up the first batch of
secondary applications.
Seriously, the University of Minnesota has 12 questions!
I mean...come on!
But New Jersey only had two, so I went ahead and got that one done.
I just need to reread and get the courage to turn it in.

I did those Saturday afternoon.
At this point Ashley had come in.
She stayed with me that night
and then we moved her in to her new place Sunday.
Then we moved her into her new new place Monday.
But I was treated to Baskin Robbins...woot woot.

Though weird things happened.
We were sitting outside Baskins
and a couple approached us.
They were asking for money,
wife had surgery,
kicked out of brother's house,
need $27 for a motel.

I think in the past I would have ignored them.
But I've been on a social justice kick.
And even if they were lying,
to put your pride aside and ask,
they probably really needed it.
I gave them the $7 in my wallet.

Even now, part of me is thinking,
why?
But even if I was taken advantage of,
atleast I feel like a decent person for trying to take care of our society.
Now I am bummed out.
I can't wait to finish these rats.

I'm supposed to get together with Jenny tonight.
Which means no reading today.
Argh! I love seeing everyone and having a life,
but I am such a loner!!!
I think if I had just had one afternoon this weeekend
I wouldn't be feeling quite so edgey.
Plus work doesn't make me any happier.

So all my Rainbow Brite stuff here...is to make me happy!
Because I feel more like Stormy.

I want to feel like this:

Toooo funny...and perfect!
She could SOOOOOO make that movie!
And I would totally buy a ticket!!!

Mug Night.

What a great night.
Went to The Bulldog with Katy.
We ended up going to the Mid City Bulldog.
I've only ever been to the Uptown one on Magazine,
but they are under renovations right now.
The Mid City one is huge and quite lovely.

Wednesday is mug night,
so we had a few pints.
My personal favorite has to be the
"One for the Ladies."
On the pint glass is a picture of a
man in an American Flag speedo!
Too much! Too much!
Coincidentily, only Katy and I got one of those.
Hmmmmm....
I'll have to put a picture of them on here another day.

Here are some sample glasses.

The selection of beer was amazing.
I had a Stell Artois, which is a Belgium beer
and a Rogue, Chocolate, which is brewed in Oregon.
The Rogue had quite an after taste/bite.
Both were interesting
and quite enjoyable.

The selection on draft.

Afterwards we went to Bruno's.
Vodka tonics for life.
We were engaged in quite the political talk.
It was pleasant enough.
Then I went home
and slept like a baby.

I have my interview with Princeton Review today!
Fingers crossed.
I need to finish my "lesson."
I'm starting to get worried its not creative enough.
I am teaching basic piano...how to read notes.
Oh boy!
Katy made a turkey sandwich for her interview.
We'll see how this rolls!!!

More to discuss later!

Why, hello there?

What a surprise!
I woke up from my nap
and was debating ordering Fresco's
when we heard a knock on the door.
Who is it?
Why it's my mother!

They drove all the way from Graceland
to New Orleans today.
Coincidently my phone ran out of batteries.
Thus, it was charging, on off mode
while I napped.

It worked out really well though.
We went out to Superior Grill.
(Seriously, I've spent way too much time there this summer!)
No margaritas tonight.
but that is A-ok with me.
It was soooo good seeing them.
Sometimes you just need a hug!

It reminds me of this moment from the Chipmunks adventure.

Unfortunately this version is with real voices.
Its cuter in the Chipmunk, overdosed on Helium voice,
but the idea is pretty clear...
I love my mother!

Well...good night!

PS...HP OOTP is officially out today!!
Must call Katy and get to movie theater!!!

Sublime.

Summertime...and the livin's easy.

Maybe too easy.
No work yesterday,
and all I did was lounge about.
Today was pretty much more of the same.
Though I did manage to get up and go to the UC.
I had chicken tenders and diet coke for lunch.
Then I read and caught up with some people on the phone.

Plans with Jenny fell through tonight.
I hate not having a car.
Boo!
Though it did give me the chance to upload my Sublime CD
AND mess with photoshop.

Lookie lookie!

Pretty! haha...or so I'd like to believe.

In fact, I find the above version a bit over done.
This version is my personal favorite.

Though this one is fun too.
I may even like the graphic background a little better than the fleur de lis.

Well...not too much to report.
I am now on page 509 of HP 4.
Only 225 more to go.
I really need to read HP 5 and 6 ASAP!
Those were really the ones I wanted to get to,
but alas, I just haven't moved as fast as I should have.
I'm hoping to finish HP 4 by Wednesday...
we'll see how busy I am....
HAHA!

Anyhooo...
listening to Sublime...
catch you later.

I don't practice Santeria
I ain't got no crystal ball
Well I had a million dollars,
but I,
I spent it all...

Wisdom Hurts.

What I've learned from my wisdom teeth.
1. Pain Tolerance
I have dealt with way toooo many sleepless nights. :-(
2. Follow your Doctor's advice.
When Dr. Alfano said to remove them, we should have...3 years ago.
3. Independence
They have hurt me so much, I finally realized I needed to see a dentist while away at school. I had to give my insurance info, play phone tag, fill my prescription all by myself, which is good life experience. Plus, I've learned to question my parents decisions.

I think that's about it.
Finally got to the dentist today.
Ah! Great straight teeth,
no braces, thank you much!
However, my enamel is very bad.
Can't win them all I suppose.

Here is a picture showing the pain of wisdom teeth...

Wisdom teeth hurt.
Mine are impacted
Which hurt more.
One is decaying since it couldn't get in
and that has been quite painful.
The dentist was quite horrified today.
He prescribed penicillin if it gets infected and swells,
vicoden if it hurts,
and flouride toothpaste to keep things contained.

Impacted wisdom tooth...

Other than feeling like an adult,
I cashed my checks,
scoped out my books for the fall
and had a pizza party for LAMP tonight.
There was a low turn out,
but it was nice.

Below is a just an added extra.
I saw it on Rosie's website.
I think it sums up many people's anger
and disappointment with our current
government quite nicely.

Independence Day

Happy Fourth of July.
Happy 231st birthday America.
I feel so bittersweet about celebrating this year.
I think we have lost the meaning of "Independence."

It is not just relinquishing ourselves from British rule,
it is about having the stregnth to remain independent.
Our policies and nation building efforts have made us imperialistic.
We are an imperialistic nation.
We have lost the values our nation was founded on.
Within ourselves we have become intolerant, scared and complacent with the gradual elimination of our freedoms (habeus corpus, cough, senior bush).
On an international level we are controlling, minipulative and an all around control freak.

We must regain the values of tolerance, consideration and peace set forth by the writers of our constitution.
It is called Independence Day for a reason.
Our simplistic minds may prefer July 4th,
but the history of holiday should not be lost admist fancy fireworks and tasty barbeques.

Today Ashley and I went shopping at the mall.
I got two really cute tank tops!
One good for my presentation later this summer
if I can find a jacket for over top.
Later we went to Wal Mart...more cheap love.
Then went to Superior Grill,
where I could not help but get a margarita and the enchilladas.
YUUmmmmYYY!!!!

After dinner we had desert at Sucre.
I would not recommend the Cafe Glace...
I should have known by the bullshit name that
the drink itself was bullshit.
It was an over priced frappucino...which is sort of silly since those are overpriced anyhow.

Post desert we went to the top of the parking garage and watched the fireworks.
It was a lovely evening,
though as I said before, I find the entire holiday bitter this year.
Over the course of the year,
my political beliefs have started to be defined by my personal beliefs, not whom my parents should say I should vote for.
I feel this is an important step in maturing,
and I hope to keep this same level of passion towards it in the future.

Wow...started drifting there...
the point was...
I'm not happy with how our country is looking.
The pendulum must swing back.
We have gone too far.
The tide of change is flowing.
I hope by this time next year to feel differently and proud of my nation.
I hope we will all learn from the gross abuses in power both internally and externally our nation is fostering.

Happy Fourth of July!

What we are???

What we were.

Oh Scooter!

Oh Scooter!
I'm disappointed in our system.
The current administration has found and exploited every loop hole.
At one point, honor and integrity were at the very least a well kept front.
Are they even trying???
I'd like my lies told to me in a deciptive fashion, thank you.
Blatant abuse of power is just infuriating.

The story is so twisted...here is the basic run down on how the story goes...thus so people aren't confused:

Scooter leaks the name of a secret CIA agent to a few government officials as well as reporters.
WHY?
Perhaps it is because Valerie Plame, the CIA agent, is married to man who has publicly denounced the war.

Fall out occurs and it is traced to Libby...a federal case is brought up...Scooter blubbers and lies and "forgets" and screws up the trial.

Thus he is charged with purgery, obstruction of justice etc and sentenced to 2.5 years of prison, probation and a $250,000 fine.

Yesterday, Senior Bush takes away his jail sentence after all of Libby's appeals are up. Hmmm....this smells fishy...
WHY would Bush care to defend him? Isn't he a tough vigilante??
Well...perhaps there is more of a connection than initially meets the eye. We certainly have no proof, but draw your own conclusions.

Here is an interesting clip of "Real Time with Bill Maher" which sheds some perspective on the story. This clip is from a few months back, so some of their questions and predictions are quite poignant...

NOTE: "We're going to f*&% em'. Who's em?"

Valerie Plame...whom they have already f-ed over.

How Scooter got his nickname...hehe

And what a dorky nickname it is...Scooter is an adorable muppet baby...not an evil mastermind.

Eh, enough of this political stuff...in much better news...
I don't have to go to work the rest of this week!
Whooo hoooooOooOOOooo!
Happy 4th of July!

Ratatouille!

What a great weekend!
Saturday was quite productive.
I got my laundry done, vacuumed and
cleaned up a bit.
Then I went out to Taco Bell with Megan,
and later on Ms. Mae's.

It was such a great night.
We met so many new people.
Played pool and foos ball
(which Megan and I beat two very cute guys in twice!)
Didn't pay for a single drink the entire night.
And woke up with out a hangover!
phew...I was starting to worry lately about my new found sensitivity.

Babysat on Sunday for Nolan and Anna.
We went to Audubon Park, had Sno Balls
and basically sweated our toushies off!
It was nice to get some sun though.
I actually ran into Jenny, my lab person,
and found out I didn't need to show up today!
Whoo hooo!

It has been one great day!
Slept in till 11am,
watched Wimbledon...did anyone see Serena's cramp??
That was CRAZY!!! Poor thing. Thank god it started raining!
I have now officially decided to follow tennis.

Going food shopping with Ashley later.
She's staying at my place for the week.
Some more fun.
I also found out I don't have to work Wednesday or Thursday.
A Gold Star Weekend.
Tuesday we are having a make-up 21st birthday,
and hopefully hitting the mall Wednesday.
Gym Tonight!!! It has to happen!!!

Whew...lots going on.
Glad its not work!
I just have really checked out.
We'll see how the gym trip works out.
Saw Ratatouille yesterday...very cute.
Sort of hyped up, but I really enjoyed it.
I want to see Sicko...
maybe I'll bring it up and we'll do it Wednesday when we hit the mall.
